Hello Friends,

It is the eve of June 15th, the date in which the state has declared it is permissible to navigate through life without masks. I know there are a lot of mixed feelings out there. Primarily I have been hearing an overwhelming sense of relief from many people who cannot wait to rid themselves of the infamous face coverings.

For me, I am still feeling a bit uneasy about it all. I am acutely aware of my own fears and doubts. I am actually surprised about the effects this past year of sheltering in place has had on me personally.

In fact, this past weekend I hosted my first open house since the pandemic and I was overcome with anxiety. I was comforted by listening to KLOVE, my favorite radio station, as I navigated my way to place my directional signs around town. Even that task seemed daunting. I reached out to a friend, who is like a big brother to me, and he graciously offered to help me (well, truth be told, I asked him for help and he immediately responded, “of course I’ll help ya”). I spoke to another friend about how anxiety ridden I was feeling and she said had she known she would have come with me to help at the open house. I felt an incredible weight lifted just knowing that I had friends so willing to support me in my time of need.

KLOVE’s slogan is, “positive, encouraging … KLOVE.” There’s so much negativity in the world I appreciate the positivity this radio station is intent on spreading. One of their theme days is “MAD (make a difference) Monday.” In an effort to continue to spread positivity, I’d love to hear how you or someone you know has made a difference in your life. It doesn’t have to be an elaborate gesture. Please send me your stories so I can share with our community!

As I shared with you, my two friends made a HUGE difference in my life just by offering support to help with my open house. I definitely let them know yet, it’s worth repeating, thank you, Joe & Cynthia, for making a positive difference in my life this past weekend. Truly, your gesture took a weight off of me that you may never understand. For that I am so incredibly grateful.

By the way, the open house turned out AMAZING! I was blown away by the turnout. It was great to see so many people out and about and many of my neighbors & friends I’ve met door knocking around town throughout the years.

Here’s to all of you out there making a positive and encouraging difference in the lives of those around you! You may never even know the far reaching impact you have on someone else’s life. I am grateful for you!

Love your friend,
Rica
